SURPRISE IN THE GARDEN!!!

Reversing out the driveway thismorning, and on a day just like any other day, I look through the carport and see what looked like a tree that had been stripped of all it's leaves. And as I KNEW there wasn't a tree in that particular spot I had to go and have a look.
Now, it starts like this - I knew that plant was there, but that trunk going up ... NO!!!

and the trunk starts

and that trunk keeps going up and up!!!

And on that trunk are these.....

Soooo.... I assume there will be some flowerssometime in the near future. How soon I have no idea. This has been in the garden for 5 years and never flowered, so we have a surprise coming!!!... I think.

QUICK, EASY, THICK & WARM CAP!!
I thought I would share with you my pattern for a quick and easy crochet cap for winter. I have tried heaps of patterns but can never get one to turn out just how I want it so I have been experimenting with various ply yarns and hooks and this is what I have come up with that I am HAPPY with!!! Full details are over on our Yarns page!!

The three hats pictured are the results of my experimenting. They are done in 3 different yarns but 1 size crochet hook!.

USED + RECYCLED + FRESH ON OUR TABLE!!

pop over to our 'CYCLE' page and view our post on recycled containers for the vegie garden. Re using whatever we can has been a passion for many years (explains why nothing is ever thrown out in this household!! even when there isn't possibly any more use in an item!!). If you are a hoarder for recycling have you ever disposed of an item that has been hanging around for years only to go looking for it because the 'it might come in handy time' has eventuated!! We have, many times.

Why Channelbank Creations??? Of course you have asked yourself this. Wwwweeellll......
The name comes from the region we live in or the area to be precise. We three are creating something in one form or another everyday thus the CREATIONS part. What to put with it.
We live in an intensive irrigation farming region (summer/winter crops/ stock/ vineyards/fruit trees and vegetables). Of course to get the water to these crops we need channels (of which we have an abundance in all sizes!!). Thus Channelbank Creations was born. It would be nice to sit on a channelbank (nicely mown of course) under the shade of a willow tree, fresh flowing water in the channel, crafting away with a nice glass of wine!! Don't you agree. We will have to take a photo of one of our nicer Channels!! That could be a job for tomorrow!!
